All Star Reserves

The 2008 All Star reserves were announced tonight.

G - Chauncey Billups, Joe Johnson, Richard Hamilton

F - Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison, Paul Pierce

C - Chris Bosh

G - Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Brandon Roy

F - Carlos Boozer, Dirk Nowitzki, David West

C - Amare Stoudemire

What I think: In the East guards I really don't think Hamilton should be in there. If Gilbert Arenas wasn't hurt then I would say him for sure. Guys like Vince Carter, Michael Redd, Jose Calderon, Jason Richardson, Mo Williams, and even Jamaal Tinsley put up better numbers than Hamilton. I think if you have him there you would have to talk about Jamal Crawford and Andre Miller. The East forwards look fine, Gerald Wallace and Josh Smith could have been in as well but there just aren't enough spots. The East centers are good as they are. In the West I don't think Roy should be in, sure he is a good player but what about Tracy McGrady. THE BIGGEST SNUB OF ALL IS Baron Davis ! HE SHOULD BE STARTING AND HE IS NOT EVEN  IN ! The West forwards are okay but mbe Al Jefferson instead of West. The centers are fine but Chris Kaman could also have made it if there was room. Come on NBA where is Baron Davis? Seriously.

2008 All Star Rookie Challenge

The Rookies will take on the Sophomores on All Star saturday night. This game is always great to watch with all the exciting young playmakers. This year I think the Sophomores will beat the Rookies by a lot ! The Rookie team has Conley, Moon, Durant, Yi, Horford, Navarro, Scola, Sean Williams, and Jeff Green. I see only 3 guys on that team that will have a good game. Moon, Durant, and Sean Williams can all make some big plays but everyone else is kind of just there. The Sophomore team however is LOADED! Rondo, Roy, Gay, Ronnie Brewer, Aldridge, Daniel Gibson, Farmar, Millsap, and Bargnani. The starting 5 (the first 5 listed) will put on a show for sure. I say Sophs by 15.

NBA All Star Weekend 2008

The Starting Line-ups for the 2008 NBA All Star game were released this past Thursday.

G - Allen Iverson

G - Kobe Bryant

F - Carmelo Anthony

F - Tim Duncan

C - Yao Ming

My thoughts on the WEST starters: Both of the guard spots are off to me. I think Chris Paul and Baron Davis deserved those starting spots over Kobe and AI, I say those 2 come off the bench. This is more of a popularity contest with the fan voting and all. With the forwards I think Carlos Boozer and Dirk Nowitzki should start with Melo and TD off the bench. Again, just a popularity contest. Yao Ming deseved his spot at center.

G - Dwyane Wade

G - Jason Kidd

F - LeBron James

F- Kevin Garnett

C - Dwight Howard

My thoughts on the EAST starters: 2 words, NAILED IT !

Looking forward to the Friday night action with the Celebrity game and the Rookie Challenge vs. the second year guys. There are no rosters out yet fot either of those games. On they have the scoreboard for the Rookie Challenge set at 000 to 000, implicating that this will be a very high scoring game in triple digits. Should be very entertaining.

Saturday should also be fun to watch. The D-League All Star game is earlier that day. Then that night there is the Slam Dunk Contest, the Skills Challenge, the 3 Point Shootout, and the Shooting Stars Contest (one NBA player, one WNBA player, and one retired player all from the same city) taking on the other city's teams by shooting different shots around the court in the fastest amount of time.

The Dunk Contest will be a good one. The 4 competitors are Dwight Howard, Gerald Green, Rudy Gay, and Jamario Moon. We saw Green win it last year when clearly Howard deserved it and got ripped off by the judges. Anyway Rudy has some HOPS and will be taking fan suggestion videos on youtube for one of his dunks. Personally I am rooting for Rudy beacuse I met him over the summer.

Then on Sunday is the 57th NBA All Star Game. More on that when the rest of the rosters are announced.
